Educational Philosophy
I am beyond blessed to have been called to a profession that brings me such joy and allows me to impact the lives of others. Teachers are responsible for giving their students the necessary knowledge and skills to be successful in every aspect of their lives. I believe that teachers need to create engaging and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for their students while embracing the diversity in their classrooms. Children need positive role models in their lives, and I believe that this begins with teachers. It is imperative for teachers to encourage their students' social, cognitive, and emotional growth, to initiate partnerships with parents or caregivers, and to create a nurturing classroom environment, which in turn gives students the opportunity to take risks while remaining intellectually stimulated and challenged.

ReflectionIn my Collage I learned how to apply technological concepts such as WordArt, SmartArt Graphics, Object Palette, etc. in order to create a collage in Word. Before this assignment, I was unaware of the amount of tools that teachers and students can use to input data in such a creative way. When students create a collage in Word, ethical practices must take place to make sure that they are using appropriate information and/or images.
Creating a reflection in Word taught me how to further my knowledge and application of data input strategies listed above for the Collage assignment. Also through the reflection created, I learned important technology-related terms and concepts, such as TPLACK, how to learn WITH technology vs. FROM it, etc. The information provided in this reflection will allow me to make informed decisions about current technologies and their applications in the classroom.

ReflectionDelicious gave me the opportunity to search various information on the Web and choose appropriate sites to bookmark for future educational purposes. The site allowed me to document what I liked about the information I was saving, as well as "tagging" it for others' professional or personal use. I learned how to analyze, save, and evaluate electronic information on a site that I can permanently have remote access to.

ReflectionCreating a Subject Sampler taught me how to create an active, engaging, and technology rich lesson for my early childhood students. Through my SS, I am able to challenge my young students to use their problem solving skills by exploring and learning the concept of Community Helpers. Through the completion of the SS and big question, I can evaluate my students' individual cognitive growth.
I learned how to use RubiStar to create a Rubric for a Community Helpers Little Bird Tale. The use of my rubric allows me to evaluate the knowledge my students acquired from the SS. I believe this is an appropriate tool because it allows teacher-developed assessment that applies directly to the combination of students' prior knowledge and the Community Helpers Subject Sampler's new knowledge. |

ReflectionThe use of a Weebly account allows teachers to communicate information with their students and their students' parents/caregivers. I learned how to create a Technology Rich Unit Plan that allows information to be displayed for a classroom of diverse learners. Through this Unit, students will be able to listen, visualize, create, explore, and verbalize their knowledge of Community Helpers.

ReflectionThe use of my TEASe in my Technology Rich Community Helpers Unit is to deliver images, songs, and videos in order to engage my students in the concept of Community Helpers. I learned how to make a video using iMovie that will be used at the beginning of my Unit. Creating this TEASe required planning, organization, and evaluation of how I could use this current technology for effective teaching.
